A lightning match, or match relámpago, is a one-fall match with a ten-minute time limit, and is usually one-on-one. It's a match almost only used on Friday Arena México cards. It was a weekly part of the cards in late 1999 and early 2000, appeared infrequently for the rest of the decade, and brought back as a weekly occurrence in late 2008. It's theoretically a spotlight match to give those who might otherwise not get a chance to have a singles match a big opportunity, but it seldom leads to anything.
CMLL's occasionally used this to follow up on feuds which may not warrant a full three-fall match.
