Reigning CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hector Garza quit CMLL in November 2011. Garza gave the physical belt back to the promotion, who avoided mentioning the situation for a month.
CMLL later announced a cibernetico on Christmas Day to fill the vacancy. The cibernetico turned out to only determine the final two for a decision match the following week.
The cibernetico included

- rudos: Terrible, Mr. Niebla, Mr. Águila, Rey Bucanero, Olímpico
