Prince Puma is the current champion. He won the championship on October 5, 2014 in the Lucha Underground Temple at Los Angeles, California.
History of Championship
Dario Cueto announced in 2014 the first ever Aztec Warfare Match in Lucha Underground to crown the promotion's first champion. The Aztec Warfare Match was an 20-Man Elimination Match held on October 5, 2014 and aired on tape delay on January 7, 2015. Participants were Bael, Big Ryck, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Cortez Castro, Drago, Fénix, Ivelisse, Johnny Mundo, King Cuerno, Mariachi Loco, Mascarita Sagrada, Mil Muertes, Mr. Cisco, Pentagón Jr., Pimpinela Escarlata, Prince Puma, Ricky Mandell, Sexy Star, Son of Havoc, and Súper Fly. Fénix and Mil Muertes had a match to decide their entrance's number in the previous event. Mil Muertes defeated Fénix and won the last entry spot. Fénix got the first entry spot. The day of the event, Prince Puma defeated Johnny Mundo to become the first champion.
