Álvaro Mejía Trejo, better known as El Fantasma de la Ópera was born in Maravillas, Hidalgo. Resides in Mexico since he was 11 years old. He lived near Plaza de Toros El Cortijo where there were lucha libre events weekly. Álvaro met luchadores who changed his life, because he saw a match that made him decide to become a luchador. He asked Chico Hernández to train him. He lost his mask after 6 months of his professional debut against El Gitano and he never remasked. His most notable match was against Tauro for the National Lightweight Title which nominated as the match of the year 1974.
