Al Kashey was brought to Mexico City as the #1 contender to the vacant NWA World Light Heavyweight Champion in 1959, losing to Dory Dixon. Kashey is occasionally listed as champion, but neither he or Dixon was champion at the time of the match.

Kashey was in the usual outsider role used to give credibility to what was intended to be an EMLL-specific title. Sam Muchnick and NWA leader David Ott appeared to endorse the title match. Kashey stayed in Mexico City to wrestle the following week, but otherwise only had a short run in EMLL.
