It was founded in 2014 in order to honor Cisneros Family patriarch Pepe Cisneros. The Cisneros Family promotes lucha libre events under the Promociones La Bella Airosa banner. Arena Pepe Cisneros is affiliated to CMLL. The first wrestling event which took place at the arena was held on March 16, 2014. The arena has a capacity of 2,000 spectators.
In mid 2017, the name of the arena was changed to Arena Oaxaca.
