After [[EMLL]] left the NWA and became [[CMLL]] in 1991, they created promotion based championships for many weight divisions and teams sizes. The tournament to decide champions was held in Arena Mexico over three Fridays, from 1991.11.08 to 1991.11.22. Before the quarterfinals, there was a captians battle royale to determine seeding for that round. Before the semifinals, there was a captians elimination match, where the two surviving winners' teams faced each other, and same with the losers. Atlantis and Octagon teamed to face Brazo de Oro and Satanico, with Brazo de Oro pinning Octagon and Atlantis defeating Satanico, setting up the Brazos/Atlantis and Octagon/Infernales matchups.
