Biography

Mercenario made his debut on April of 1969 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, teaming with El Angelito against Estrella Sureña and El Romano. He made a name for himself in the Tamaulipas and Veracruz states, winning in 1973 the Veracruz State Welterweight Title from El Ermitaño.

In 1982 he got his break in the business as a part of the Super Libres group, and later on at the Pavillón Azteca as a regular opponent for Super Ratón in AWWA Welterweight Title matches, or teaming with Puma Balderrama and Barba Negra (better known as Robotman) as "Los Mercenarios".

He was one of the few wrestlers that kept his name around, with the same gimmick, during the 90s, showing up often in the early 90s at cards in Monterrey and Saltillo, and even at El Toreo in 1994 when LLI was in desperate need for talent. Soon after that, he retired, even though he's got a son that wrestles as El Mercenario Jr..
