Reported as deceased (with a death date of 1988), but revealed to not have died at all in late 2012 when he returned to lucha libre. Pantera I says he was away due to illness, but it's unclear why he was reported as dead. He's now often teaming with his brother Mike Segura. He's has hinted an issues with Pantera II, who long ago dropped the 'II' from his name.

Just prior to Pantera I's reappearance, an Alex Segura wrestled in Ecatepec, including losing his hair to Cazador Salvaje Jr. on November 4th. It's unclear if that Segura is the same as Pantera I, but Pantera I reappeared a couple weeks later.
