Forjando un Idolo is a CMLL tournament, debuting in 2011. Angel de Oro won the tournament, as part of Ultimo Guerrero's group.

Format

The tournament featured 16 young luchadores. The luchadors were selected in four groups, led by four mentors. (The process behind the selections and qualifying was unspecified.)

Each group of four luchadors faced off in single fall fifteen minute matches. The winner of each match received 3 points. The loser got 0 points. If there is a tie, each participant received a single point.

The top two luchadors in each group moved onto the single elimination playoff tournament. The final took place May 20th.

After the singles tournament concluded, the top two finishers from each group teamed with the leader of the group for trios matches. Each group faced each other over three weeks. There was talk of continuing the point system, but it does not appear to be official.
