Enrique Llanes left EMLL/Lutteroth Promotions at the close of 1951. Lucha Libre 310 mentioned him joining independents; this was at the time of Televicentro. Llanes vacated the championship on December 27, 1951 according to Lucha Libre 310. (Other sources having it taking place in February 1952.

A tournament to decide a new champion began on May 23rd. The semifinals were on June 6th, and Tarzan Lopez defeated Sugi Sito in Arena Coliseo on June 13th. Gori Guerrero], El Santo and Cavernario Galindo are mentioned as participating in the tournament.
