Quien Pinta Para La Corona is a talent search contest, co-sponsored by Corona and COMEX. The contest aims to find new boxing and wrestling stars by touring Mexico. The boxing portion involves tournaments in weight divisions, while the wrestling portion (run by AAA) includes open tryouts, judges selecting the best at every tour stop, then all the winners coming to Mexico City for one final tryout. Lucha libre winners are chosen in mens, womens, and mini categories. The winners get a contract with AAA, though the extent and terms of the contract are never specified.

Each tour stop features the tournament boxing matches one night (usually the first night), and tryout lucha libre matches followed by an AAA show in the evening. AAA often taped television in the same city of the QPPC shows during the first year, and the AAA show was the actual TV taping in most of those cases. In others, the show took place in the same tented exhibition arena as the tryouts. The judges and coaches (for the tryouts) are drawn from the group of wrestlers who are working that night's shows. The judges varied from stop to stop, but the coaches often included Fabi Apache, Gran Apache, Konnan, El Brazo, and Cinthia Moreno.

The QPPC stops also have autographs sessions and various other lucha libre and boxing entertainment for fans who are not trying out.

The first Quien Pinta Para La Corona took place in the second half of 2011. It aired on AAA TV as weekly short features. Tour stops were usually shown over two weeks.

The contest returned in 2012, with a few less stops.

Rules

Luchadors must be licensed and have trained two years to try out. Also, they must be willing to move to Mexico City should they win the contest. Male luchadors who are 145 cm (4' 9") and shorter are placed in the minis division. All taller are in the regular division. QPPC's height cut off is lower than the traditional (5' 0") minis limit. There is no height restriction in the female division.

Luchadors are not restricted to trying out in their home market; many qualified away from where the normally work. There is no known restriction from foreign wrestlers trying out, as one was a runner up in 2011.

The initial rules states 20 luchadors would be picked from each stop, but the actual number varied and was usually much lower.
