On August 10,2016 Ring of Honor began a working relationship with CMLL. CMLL wrestlers began appearing at ROH events such as Stuka Jr., Dragon Lee II, & Angel de Oro. ROH wrestler Matt Taven spent three weeks in CMLL in September 2016 & returned again in 2017. ROH held a tournament to crown their first Six Man (Trios) Champions in which Ultimo Guerrero, Hechicero, & Okumura competed as Team CMLL.
