Redirect FAQ

From Luchawiki

Q: What's a redirect?

A: A redirect is an alternate name for an existing page. Redirects allow a link to Nicho to essentially be the same as a link to Psicosis - you'll just see the redirect note on those links. Instead of having an extra Nicho page to fill out, users are directed to the existing Psicosis page.

Q: How do I do a redirect?

A: This is pretty easy. Go to the page you want to be a redirect, and enter just this text:

#REDIRECT [[Psicosis]]

Instead of Psicosis, you'll put the name of whatever page you're redirect too.

Q: What do I do if there's no link to the page I want to use as a redirect?

A: You can edit any page to make changes and create the link that you need. It'd make most sense to do it in the Sandbox page, because it exists for that sort of purpose.

This isn't a long process.

Q: What kind of redirects are you looking for?

A: in order or priorty

  1. unaccented versions of accented names. If someone's name is Máscara Año 2000, their main page should be listed that way, but we still need to make it work when people link to it as Mascara Ano 2000
  2. Name varations. It doesn't take much effort to make a link labeled Santo point to El Santo, but the redirect should still be there just in case people forget. Shortened/longer versions of names and even misspelling redirects would be neat.
  3. Gimmick varations. Same thing; it's not hard to make a link labeled as Essa Rios point to Mr. Aguila, but we can save them the effort by creating the redirect.

Q: Is there a way to know which redirects have been done?

A: It seems like there should be, but I haven't found it yet. As soon as I do, I'll post it here.
