Other Notes

The main event of Triplemania II-A was a very strange one. Heavy Metal and Jerry Estrada had been feuding since November 1993 when Metal turned tecnico. It was a bloody feud which was obviously being built up to conclude on this show. The plan was for Heavy Metal to win Jerry Estrada's hair but the night before the show there was an incident at a bar involving Heavy Metal and Antonio Pena (head of AAA) happened to be witness to it. He was very angry and as punishment changed the finish of the match to Estrada winning. The match went on in the main event and Jerry Estrada won by DQ after Heavy Metal used a low blow. The crowd was shocked and Heavy Metal immediatly started crying and avoiding his haircut. This brought out Antonio Pena who had a change of heart after seeing Metal crying and he ordered a fourth fall where Metal used the Casita to pin Estrada. The crowd was overjoyed but Estrada never ended up getting more than a few pieces of hair cut off because he was told he'd be winning and refused to get his head shaved without being paid in advance. A very confusing finish to a highly successful sold out show.

The other big match on the show was the Payasos putting their extended winning streak on the line against the National Trios Champions Los Hermanos Dinamita. The Payasos were able to continue their streak and take the titles in the process which set up a rematch between the two teams in a steel cage at Triplemania II-C.

The undercard of the show was uneventful aside from Miguel Perez Jr. and Chicano Power making their AAA debuts as they appeared in the crowd to taunt Konnan and then attacked him after his match.

TripleMania II (B)

The second 1994 TripleMania was held on May 15 in Zapopan, Jalisco.

Other Notes

The two biggest matches at this Triplemania weren't even the main event. Mascara Sagrada took on Black Cat in a mask vs mask match which went down in history as one of the best booked mask matches in Lucha Libre history. The first fall was long and ended with Sagrada winning clean to go up 1-0. The second fall also went on a while and included Black Cat's seconds Eddy Guerrero & Love Machine interfereing on his behalf. Then came the moment that stunned everyone - 100% tecnico Mascara Sagrada picked up Black Cat and gave him an illegal tombstone piledriver! The crowd was stunned as Tirantes awarded the second fall to Black Cat via DQ. After a short rest period where Black Cat was rolled out of the ring to get medical attention, Tirantes ordered the third fall to begin but Black Cat was KO'ed. Eddy Guerrero and Love Machine protested but it didn't matter... Tirantes counted out Black Cat and awarded the match to Mascara Sagrada! Black Cat was unmasked as he was being stretchered from the ring.

The other match was an international dream match as New Japan's Jushin Liger and Tiger Mask III (Koji Kanemoto) teamed up with Octagon and El Hijo Del Santo to take on La Parka, Psicosis, Eddy Guerrero (who wrestled in New Japan as Black Tiger) and Blue Panther. The tecnicos won a 25 minute match of the year candidate.

On the undercard Latin Lover made his first Triplemania appearence and there was an interpromotional match featuring UWA wrestlers against Los Payasos which ended with Gran Hamada's partners turning on him. This was actually the last victory the Payasos would have on TV as one week later their winning streak was ended in Juarez. Also, there was a mini's relevos incriebles match which was supposed to continue the odd Mascarita Sagrada/Micro Konnan feud but the fans didn't want to see them feud at all so a few weeks later on a TV taping in Leon they hugged and the angle was dropped.

TripleMania II (C)

(TripleMania II (C)) was held on May 27 in El Toreo de Tijuana.

8 Konnan Jake Roberts hair match

Other Notes

The biggest Triplemania of 1994 was scheduled to have three major matches but by the end of the night only two took place. Octagon was involved in a serious car accident a few days before the show and suffered a hand injury which prevented him from being cleared by the commision to wrestle. He appeared in the ring to hand his Mexican National Middleweight Championship to Blue Panther by forfeit.

As for the two major matches that did take place, the semi-main event was a revenge match from Triplemania II-A as the Hermanos Dinamita got revenge for losing their trios titles to the Payasos as they defeated them in a cage match. This was only the second loss for the Payasos in AAA.

The main event was a long-awaited hair vs hair match between Konnan and Jake 'The Snake' Roberts. This match had been brewing since the first ever Triplemania when Jake cost Konnan a career match against Cien Caras. Konnan's ring entrance included him dressing up as RoboCop which was quite spectacular. Jake had The Warlord with him as his second. The match was only one fall and generally considered awful. Jake wasn't in the best condition so they just had him handcuff Konnan to the ropes early on and after many minutes of beating on him Konnan "hulked up" and broke free from the handcuffs to attack Jake and pin him clean after interference from The Warlord backfired. After the match the entire locker room (both tecnicos and rudos) came out to hold Jake down while he got his head shaved. This worked both as a storyline (Mexicans vs foreigners) and was done for precautionary reasons as there was actually concern Jake would try to run away without getting his haircut.

Notable things from the undercard included Black Cat's team turning on him to further the Gringos Locos vs AAA angle and local Tijuana wrestler El Puma (who would eventually go on to play Psicosis II many years later) working the opening match.
