The CWE World Championship is a professional wrestling championship managed by Costa Rican promotion Costa Rica Wrestling Embassy (CWE). It was established in 2015 as CMLL Costa Rica National Championship.

Current Champion

Einar is the current champion. He defeated Okumura on August 10, 2019 in Arena CWE, Desamparados, San José to win the title.

History of Championship

Championship introduced by CWE in 2015. On June 27, 2015, the promotion began a tournament in order to crown their inaugural CMLL Costa Rica National Champion. The tournament took place over several weeks until the two finalists faced off in a one-on-one match for the new title. Mexican wrestler Escualo defeated Costa Rican wrestler Luis Carlos Monge to became the first champion.

On December 18, 2016, the championship was renamed as the CWE National Championship as the promotion was rebranded as Costa Rica Wrestling Embassy (CWE) due to the working relationship they had with CMLL coming to an end. Months later, the title was finally renamed as the CWE World Championship, introducing a new redesigned title belt.
