After doing a Abismo Negro knock off gimmick in the independents, the former Angel Mensajero and Nautilius return to AAA as Black Abyss, the evil Vipers promoted clone of Abismo Negro.
The feud between Abismo Negro and Vipers Revolution never stayed on track because Abismo Negro had his issues making AAA TV tapings. Black Abyss continues as a member of the Vipers. During Abismo's summer of 2008 departure from the company, it's was rumored Black Abyss was now fulfilling his gimmick and working as (the new) Abismo Negro. Black Abyss confirmed this to be true, but the change never made it to television; the famous Abismo Negro returned, and Black Abyss remained with that gimmick. There were occasional appearances with Black Abyss wrestling as a sort of Abismo Negro II, but only the fans in attendance would've seen it (and might have not known it.)
The Vipers as a group disappeared from television during long stretches of 2008, usually around the same periods Abismo Negro was gone. Black Abyss hasn't been seen much as a result.
