The Occidente Welterweight Championship is one of the state championships of the Guadalajara box y lucha libre commission. It's controlled by the Guadalajara branch of CMLL.
Current Champion
Sadico is the current champion, winning the title on July 20, 2014 from Leo in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara.
History of Championship
Championship Notes
Metalik won this championship on April 13, 2008, but did not get a chance to do much with it. Within a month of winning the championship, he was called up to the Mexico City CMLL roster. By the end of the year, he'd been reborn as Mascara Dorada, treated as a new wrestler, and so could not logically defend this title. Local championships were not a priority in Guadalajara at the time - at one point, all were either inactive, or held by national wrestlers who only rarely appeared here - so the title was allowed to stay dormant until a cibernetico determined a new champion.
Rudo Angel del Mal was a slight surprise winner of the cibernetico, defeating Saturno. The first person to earn a rematch was Saturno's brother, Palacio Negro, but the rudo held on.
After Metal Blanco chased the champion for many weeks, he finally got his chance and the championship, defeating Angel del Mal on April 4th.
